The Racquet Club Palm Springs opened its doors in 1934. It's owners, Charels Farrell and Ralph Ballamy forever changed the trajectory of Palm Springs with the opening of this legendary property.
From the get-go The Racquet Club Palm Springs became a destination for Hollywood stars and executives. It offered privacy and exclusivity in the desert sun. While overall, a modesst property it does have a building designed by famed architect Albert Frey.
The Racquet Club is also known for its popular pool where legend has it Marilyn Monroe was first discovered and the famed Bamboo Room where the Blood Mary was first served.
The property thrived until about the later quarter of the 20th century. When its exclusivity ended, the draw lessened, and the property has been decaying for the past two decades.
